In order to protect these photodiodes from damage, they are packaged in the Bulk. It is necessary to enclose the photodiodes in TO-5 Variant, 2 Leads, Lens Top Metal Can packages for safety purposes. A photodiode can withstand a maximum voltage of 30V when operating in reverse-bias mode continuously. A continuous reverse-bias voltage of 30V should be maintained for the photodiodes.
